Inaugural Sip! Buchanan Event to Showcase Downtown Revitalization and Community Celebration
Residents and visitors alike are invited to experience the charm and energy of downtown Buchanan on Saturday, May 16, 2026, during the inaugural Sip! Buchanan event, a lively community celebration hosted by the Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Buchanan Downtown Development Authority.
Designed to highlight the recent improvements to Buchanan’s downtown business district, Sip! Buchanan will transform the city streets into a vibrant, walkable festival experience. Guests will be able to stroll through the beautifully renovated downtown while visiting local shops and pop-up tasting stations featuring wineries, breweries, and distilleries exclusively from Southwest Michigan. The event also aims to bring together local producers from across Southwest Michigan, showcasing the region’s growing reputation for high-quality wines and craft beverages.
All daytime activities are free and open to the public, providing a family-friendly atmosphere, with entertainment and activities for all ages. Guests ages 21 and older can enhance the experience by purchasing a tasting wristband, which grants access to designated Sip! Buchanan stops where participants can enjoy tasting-size pours of regional wine, beer, and spirits. This curated tasting experience emphasizes quality over quantity, giving attendees the opportunity to explore high-quality wines, craft beers, and spirits while learning what makes each unique—making it ideal for enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike. Wristbands include a commemorative tasting glass and tasting passport to guide visitors along the walkable tasting route.
The celebration will feature a full day of events designed to keep the energy going from morning to evening. The day begins with the Buchanan Farmers Market at The Common, offering farm-fresh produce, baked goods, artisan goods, and locally sourced products.
Early risers can also participate in Run! Buchanan, hosted by the Buchanan Area Recreation Board, featuring a 1-mile fun run, 5K, and 10K race benefiting Buchanan Parks.
Car enthusiasts are encouraged to attend Cruise! Buchanan at 9:00 a.m. for a classic car exhibition displayed in parking lots throughout downtown. Attendees can enjoy coffee & donuts from Mint Cannabis while supplies last.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m. Front Street will come alive with music from local favorite 1 Adam 12 courtesy of United Federal Credit Union.
Families can also enjoy interactive entertainment including balloon artistry by Fun Twist Balloon Creations, magic performances by John Dudley, and line dancing with the Sunset Coast Dancers in the afternoon.
Visitors are encouraged to explore Buchanan’s unique downtown shops throughout the day, many of which will feature special promotions, discounts, and giveaways during the event.
The festivities continue into the evening with a Beer and Wine Garden for guests ages 21 and older, followed by a free live concert at The Common featuring the high-energy local cover band Shock Roxy.
Organizers say the goal of Sip! Buchanan is to celebrate the community, showcase local businesses, and invite visitors to experience everything downtown Buchanan has to offer.

Tasting wristbands are $50 when purchased in advance using promo code SIP2026 before May 1, and will increase to $60 after.
