Grateful Pie Company at Fernwood - Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony!
The Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed Grateful Pie Company to The Community with a ribbon Cutting!
NILES — A new addition to the Niles-Buchanan culinary scene was celebrated with much fanfare Wednesday afternoon. Business owners and residents from both communities were on hand at Fernwood Botanical Garden for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Grateful Pie Company at Fernwood. Previously located inside The Commerce Center on Colfax in South Bend, the eatery now operates from the Fernwood Café, 13988 Range Rd. “We are thrilled beyond belief to be here,” said Owner and Chef Barbara Furnell. “It doesn’t break my heart at all to come here every day and I’m really enjoying the ability to really bake anything and everything that I want. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be coming to Fernwood, so I just love it. Our customers have been absolutely wonderful and we’re really looking forward to a beautiful springtime and summer here.”
“Today marks an exciting moment for Fernwood and for the Grateful Pie Company at Fernwood, a place where people come together to rest, to reset, to engage with nature, and we’re so excited that our guests now have the opportunity to partake in a very thoughtfully prepared meal or snack during their visit to Fernwood,” said Mary Krinock, Fernwood’s Executive Director. “We’re just thrilled to be here and look forward to hosting all of you in the cafe and at Fernwood again soon.” The Grateful Pie Company is open to the public during Fernwood’s operating hours, offering both dine-in and take-out options.
“Fernwood is a gem in our county, in our area,” said Buchanan Chamber Executive Director Brandon DeJaynes. “A lot of us feel like this is just our backyard. This is a destination for people in the region. A lot of visitors come through here, so it’s really a pleasure to always step foot in Fernwood. I know that every time I mention Grateful Pies to anybody, the compliments just start pouring out.”
The café menu includes soups, salads, sandwiches, pot pies, and pizzas. Homemade baked goods are sold in the garden’s gift shop, including fresh pies, loaves of bread, granola, lemon lavender bars and Fernwood’s carrot cake.
“We’re excited to highlight not just the dessert options, but the catering options too,” added Greater Niles Chamber Executive Director Ryan Boeskool.
