The Buchanan Business Boosters are excited to announce “The Dog Days of Summer,” a community-wide pet adoption event benefiting the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan, taking place on Saturday, August 8, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at The Common, 121 S. Oak Street in downtown Buchanan.
Held in honor of Ned Gardner, who would always hold a long in-depth conversation with every dog he ever met. This family-friendly event will bring together local businesses, animal welfare organizations, pet service providers, and community members for a morning dedicated to helping dogs find loving forever homes.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet adoptable dogs, learn about the adoption process, and even prequalify for adoptions through the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan via the QR code on the event poster. The event is designed to connect prospective pet owners with local shelter animals while celebrating the positive impact pets have on our lives and community.

Several local businesses and organizations are supporting the event, including Good Boy Vodka, Tractor Supply Company, Chewy, Pet Supplies Plus, South Bend Animal Clinic, BluePaw Pet Spa, and others. Tractor Supply Company is also donating dog and cat food to support new adoptions.
Community members are encouraged to bring their pets to the event. For the safety of all attendees, pets must be on a non-retractable leash, and owners should be prepared to provide proof of current vaccinations if participating in adoption activities.
